Therapy for Infertility & Miscarriage in Sacramento, CA

Infertility and miscarriage can be such lonely experiences. They don’t have to be.

Infertility & miscarriage can feel like emotional whiplash

You cycle through hope and grief, never sure which emotion to hold onto. You feel angry or sad with each new baby shower announcement, and then you feel guilty for not being more excited for your friends. You feel that surely you have accepted any possible outcome as you go through IVF — only to discover that you were holding onto expectations you hadn’t realized, when you learn the number of embryos that survived. And now you’re worn out and devastated.

Then you have to make the choice about whether to keep moving forward, or deplete your bank account. This makes you wonder, maybe unfairly: Are you the type of person who prioritizes money over love?

Or you have to listen for the subtext of what your doctor is saying as they nudge you toward the option of donor eggs. Am I now officially barren after several failed round of IVF? What will it mean if I give birth to a child from a donor egg, when I’m not the “biological” mother? Will it mean my partner is “more” my child’s parent than I am? Am I willing to consider adoption?

The journey through infertility, IVF, and miscarriage can bring up questions that feel impossible to answer, and difficult to sit with alone. These are big life questions that can tear at our sense of self. It’s a good thing, then, that you don’t have to go through this alone.

My own infertility journey

As you might be able to tell, I have lived through some of these experiences, and they shape how I show up as a grief therapist. When you share your story of infertility or miscarriage with me, I will not rush to fix it. I’ll sit with you in your sadness and your anger. I hope to help you feel seen and supported as you carry this loss.
